Ascot Racecourse - Course Description
There are few sporting venues that can match the rich heritage and history of Ascot Racecourse. The course is closely associated with the British Royal Family, being located approximately six miles from Windsor Castle, and also owned by the Crown Estate. Ascot Racecourse today stages twenty-five days of racing over the course of the year, with Royal Ascot, held in June, being the major draw. Ascot Racecourse is all about quality, style and excellence and provides great racing and a memorable day out. Ascot Racecourse is a leading racecourse on the international stage as well as a world-class sport and entertainment venue. Following a major redevelopment project, the most expensive of it's type ever seen in Europe, the new grandstand was officially opened by the Queen at Royal Ascot in 2006.
The calendar is packed with top class racing throughout the year. Most of the racedays at Ascot Racecourse have a unique theme to compliment the racing, including everything from live summer concerts, a festival of wine, a beer festival, family days, a food fair, firework display and Christmas shopping village.
